Clorox Reports Positive Sales Growth, Weak EPS

Clorox released its third quarter earnings this morning, posting a diluted EPS of $1.02, below consensus estimates of $1.03 a share.
Volume for the quarter of fiscal year 2012 increased 4 percent and sales grew 7 percent, with both delivering gains in all four of the company’s reportable segments.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Don Knauss commented on the earnings saying, “I’m very pleased with our top-line growth in the third quarter. We delivered our highest year-over-year sales growth in more than three years. In our U.S. business, sales grew more than 8 percent, and were up more than 6 percent excluding acquisitions. Our categories continued to recover and our market share reached an all-time high. At the same time, margin results were below expectations and remain an area of focus. Looking ahead, we expect margins to begin stabilizing next fiscal year.”
Coca-Cola Tops Estimates Despite Volume Decline

4-26-12-Coca-Cola Enterprises (NYSE:CCE) reported Q1 EPS of $0.36, topping estimates of $0.33. Revenues in the quarter came in at $1.87 billion, just above estimates of $1.84 billion. The company said Q1 volume was down 0.5% vs. up 3% Q/Q. Meanwhile, net pricing per case rose 5% vs. 2.5% Q/Q. The company reaffirmed its 2012 outlook, seeing EPS up about 10% vs. estimates of up 5% to $2.28.

Exxon Mobil Misses Bottom Line Estimates

4-26-12-Exxon Mobil (NYSE:XOM) reported Q1 EPS of $2.00, missing estimates of $2.08. The company has missed estimates 3 out of the last 4 quarters. The company reported Q1 revenues of $124.05 billion, vs. estimates of $119.9 billion.
Exxon reported production of 4.55 Mboe per day vs. estimates of 4.67 Mboe per day.
Exxon said it repurchased $5 billion worth of shares in the quarter and expects to repurchase $5 billion in the second quarter.
Exxon said segment earnings were as follows; E&P $7.8b vs. estimates of $8.58 billion, R&M $1.59 billion vs. estimates of $959 million, chemicals $701 million vs. estimates of $1.05 billion.

Toyota Motor Recalls Over 70,000 Vehicles

Toyota (NYSE:TM) recalls a total of over 70,000 vehicles citing an issue with engine bolts that could break loose during operation.
The company’s Vista, Corona and Nadia models manufactured between December 1996 and December 2001 are covered by the recall.
Threshold Pharmaceuticals Receives $20 Million Milestone Payment

The payment was related to performance of its TH-302 pancreatic cancer treatment candidate in a Phase 2 trial.
Chrysler Signs Exclusive Deal With Sirius Radio

Chrysler (PINK:FIATY) plans on installing Sirius’ (NASDAQ:SIRI) new satellite radios in its cars.
The move makes it the first automaker to add the ability to its vehicles.
While Sirius is still working with a number of other car makers Chrysler will carry the radios exclusively for a year.
The radios will be able to record content and carry Spanish language channels as well.
Alcoa Decreasing Yearly Supply of Alumina

On Thursday, Alcoa (NYSE:AA) announced its plans to decrease its yearly production of alumina by 390,000 metric tons to prevent oversupply in the Atlantic region.
Chris Ayers, president of Alcoa’s Global Primary Products said, “Alcoa is taking these steps to avoid aggravating alumina oversupply in the Atlantic region and to enhance the efficiency of our refining system. We will continue to monitor market conditions and will take further action if warranted.”
Alcoa (NYSE:AA) has potential upside of 19.6% based on a current price of $9.84 and an average consensus analyst price target of $11.76.
Constellation Brands Tops Estimates in Q4

Constellation Brands (NYSE:STZ) reported EPS of $0.69, topping analyst estimates of $0.38 per share. Revenues for the quarter were $628 million, better than consensus estimates of $626.40 million.
Rob Sands, president and chief executive officer, Constellation Brands said, “We finished the year with positive results and strong marketplace momentum for our U.S. wine and spirits business, which positions us well for the upcoming year. We also generated record free cash flow, repurchased more than $400 million of stock and acquired the remaining interest in Ruffino, which strengthens our position in the growing Italian wine category.”
Constellation Brands (NYSE:STZ) has potential upside of 1.8% based on a current price of $24.69 and an average consensus analyst price target of $25.13.
